How NeurOptimal® can support your animal companion!

Have You Trained Your Animal Companion’s Brain Today?

Originally designed for humans, NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback® has been successfully used on dogs, cats, and horses worldwide. Since it’s a non-conscious, non-invasive, and drug-free process requiring no active participation, animals benefit just as humans do.

NeurOptimal® is a brain training system that optimizes neurological functioning by helping the brain self-regulate. This leads to improved mental clarity, emotional resilience, better sleep, and overall well-being. People use NeurOptimal® for stress management, enhanced focus, and cognitive balance, and animals experience similar benefits.

Intrigued by its potential for animals, I decided to conduct a pilot project with a few in my community—and the results were remarkable.

In-person sessions are available in British Columbia! If you’re interested, I’d love to hear from you—email me at nelsonintuitive@gmail.com

Results of My NeurOptimal® Pilot Project with Animals

A four-week pilot project using NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback® with anxious dogs and senior pets in palliative care showed positive results for every animal involved.

During sessions, some dogs displayed signs of processing, such as yawning or licking, while others remained distracted but still made progress.

Many pets experienced noticeable improvements in calmness, behavior, and emotional well-being. One dog completely stopped having indoor accidents after just one session.

Another, initially too restless to sit still without a licking pad, became calmer with each session, and voluntarily lay down beside me, ready to begin by the fourth session—something previously unthinkable. By the end, he rested his head on his owner and peacefully fell asleep.

Pet owners observed both subtle and significant changes, with some improvements being noticed first by neighbors. These findings confirm that NeurOptimal® positively impacts animals ’overall well-being.

How does it work?

NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback® is real-time brain training that uses small electrodes attached to the scalp to measure electrical activity at 256 times per second. It detects shifts in brain activity and provides feedback through interruptions in the music playing, helping the brain form new, healthier patterns. Unlike linear neurofeedback, which targets specific brain areas based on scans and diagnoses, NeurOptimal® works with the brain as a whole to help it organize itself without the need for formal diagnoses or scans.

Jitzu
Dalmatian, pit-bull mix, 8 years old, male, not neutered
Problems:
  • massive separation anxiety

  • very excitable

  • paralyzed tail & bladder problem

  • spinal cord injury

  • shedding abnormally

  • humping other dogs

  • not motivated by food

Results:

Jitzu started sleeping better, transitioned to sleeping with Rachael’s daughter instead of scratching at Rachael’s door. His shedding decreased and was back to normal. He stopped humping the elderly dog, and he remained calm even when another dog disrupted their routine at home or in the park. His appetite improved and for the first time, he was motivated by food rather than just seeking attention.

Testimonial:

Berenice has been working with my 8 years old Dalmatian for a few weeks, and I have seen great improvement in my dog's behavior!

Jitsu has always been a highly anxious dog. He has major separation anxiety, and literally follows me everywhere. He is a nervous, highly strung pooch. He has suffered several health ailments, with no clear indication of where these problems stem from. It is my belief that it is Jitsu's anxiety which is causing him to suffer other physical health conditions.

I began to notice a difference in several areas of Jitsu's behavior and health status after the second session that Berenice conducted with him. He is less attached to me, and has started to sleep in my daughter's room instead. He is not whining constantly, like he has always done. His shedding problems are notably improved. And he has become more food motivated (he was previously only motivated by attention from myself). He appears to be a more relaxed and calm dog.

I am hoping to continue these NeurOptimal® sessions with Jitsu. I do believe they are having a positive impact on him and improving his quality of life.
